Domaine Joseph Drouhin Macon Bussieres Les Clos 2021 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2021 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Mâcon-Bussières Les Clos is a white Burgundy wine from the Mâcon-Bussières appellation, crafted from Chardonnay. This Les Clos cuvée comes from the Bussières terroir in the southern Mâconnais, near Pouilly-Fuissé, rooted in Jurassic clay-limestone soils. Vinification combines stainless steel vats and 500-litre oak barrels, followed by 6 to 10 months of mixed aging. The 2021 vintage is characterized by very low yields in Burgundy, delivering a balanced white wine with mineral and white blossom notes, accompanied by a precise and lingering palate.

Histoire du domaine
Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded in Beaune in 1880, when Joseph Drouhin, aged 22, took over an established business in the town’s historic centre. From 1918 onwards, his son Maurice began developing an estate-owned vineyard. In 1921, he acquired his first plot at Clos des Mouches, in Beaune. Robert Drouhin took over in 1957 and continued to expand the estate, notably through the acquisition of Premier Crus and Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits. In the late 1960s, he significantly expanded the estate’s presence in Chablis, acquiring nearly 40 hectares and the Moulin de Vaudon. In 1987, Robert Drouhin founded Domaine Drouhin Oregon with his daughter Véronique. Philippe Drouhin took over the management of the estates in 1988 and gradually shifted viticultural practices towards organic and biodynamic farming. The company is now run by Philippe, Véronique Boss-Drouhin, Laurent and Frédéric Drouhin; Véronique Boss-Drouhin is responsible for the cellar and winemaking. In 2023, the acquisition of two estates in Saint-Romain and Saint-Véran brought the estate’s own vineyard area to nearly 100 hectares.
Les Clos (Mâcon)
Les Clos is commercially presented as a wine-growing lieu-dit in Bussières, associated with the complementary geographical denomination Mâcon-Bussières within the Mâcon AOC. Maison Joseph Drouhin situates this wine in the heart of the Bussières terroir, on the first notable escarpment of the southern Mâconnais, near Pouilly-Fuissé. However, published data concerning altitude, clay-sandy or limestone soils, and the geological context pertain to the entire Bussières vineyard rather than a verified delimitation of the Les Clos lieu-dit. No official source consulted allows for the establishment of a specific classification, exposure, altitude, or coordinates for this site.
