Domain Christophe Roumier Charmes Chambertin Aux Mazoyeres 2018 Bottle (75cl)
The 2018 Domaine Christophe Roumier Charmes-Chambertin Aux Mazoyères is a red Burgundy wine from Gevrey-Chambertin, classified as a Grand Cru. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir and old vines, it comes from the Mazoyères sector, whose wines may be sold under the Charmes-Chambertin appellation. This cuvée reflects the estate's parcel-by-parcel approach to the grands crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. For its Charmes-Chambertin, the estate practices manual harvesting and sorting, partial destemming, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and 16 months of barrel aging with a limited proportion of new oak.

Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in 1924, when Georges Roumier married Geneviève Quanquin, who came from a family that owned vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny. Georges Roumier then expanded the estate and introduced on-site bottling, at a time when the wine merchant sector still largely dominated the industry. His son Jean-Marie officially succeeded him in 1961. During the 1950s, the estate expanded, notably with vineyards in Bonnes-Mares and the Clos de la Bussière in Morey-Saint-Denis, acquired in 1953. A plot of Corton-Charlemagne was acquired in 1968; it produced its first vintage under the name Jean-Marie Roumier in 1974. Christophe Roumier, a graduate in oenology, joined his father in 1981. From the 1983 vintage onwards, the entire harvest has been bottled at the estate. Since Jean-Marie Roumier’s retirement in 1990, Christophe Roumier has managed the estate, whilst his sister Delphine plays an active role in the family business. He personally oversees the winemaking process; the estate’s practices include hand-harvesting, the use of indigenous yeasts and ageing in a limited proportion of new oak. The vineyard covers approximately 12.5 hectares, a significant portion of which is farmed under a family lease.
