Histoire du domaine
Le Pin was established in 1979, when Jacques Thienpont acquired a few small plots of vineyard in Pomerol, totalling approximately one and a half hectares at the time. A member of the Thienpont family, which had already been established in Pomerol with Vieux Château Certan since 1924, he developed the project with the help of his cousin Alexandre Thienpont. The first vintage produced under the name Le Pin was the 1979 vintage. In 1984, Jacques Thienpont expanded the vineyard by acquiring a further hectare. The estate subsequently came to comprise several small plots on the Pomerol plateau. A new winery, designed by the architect Paul Robbrecht, was inaugurated in time for the 2011 harvest. The Thienpont family’s website now lists a vineyard comprising seven plots covering 2 hectares, planted entirely with Merlot. In 2026, Diana Berrouet García is in charge of winemaking and the estates at Domaines Jacques Thienpont, an organisation that includes, notably, Le Pin, L’If and L’Hêtre.
