Histoire du domaine
On 2 April 1760, the privateer Jacques Kanon acquired a wine estate surrounded by vineyards in Saint-Émilion. He had the château built and named the property after himself. Over time, the spelling of the name evolved from Kanon to Canon. CHANEL acquired Château Canon in 1996, having previously purchased Château Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux in 1994. The company then undertook a restructuring of the vineyard and major works on the winery and other buildings. In 2011, the estate purchased a neighbouring vineyard situated on the foothills of the plateau; this acquisition led to the creation of Croix Canon, produced in dedicated facilities. Nicolas Audebert is currently the estate’s managing director, whilst Stéphane Bonnasse is the technical director and head of winemaking. The estate has been certified organic since the 2024 vintage.
