Histoire du domaine
The history of the estate dates back to the 17th century, when the "Fief de Bellevue", then owned by the Lacaze family, was endowed with its chartreuse manor house. In 1938, Louis Horeau, first cousin of Jean Lacaze, took over the property; after his death, his sons-in-law Jacques Pradel de Lavaux and René de Coninck succeeded him. Nicolas Thienpont took charge of the estate in 2000, assisted by Stéphane Derenoncourt, and initiated notably works on drainage, soil management, and the replanting of certain vines. In September 2007, the de Coninck family sold its stake to the de Boüard de Laforest family, owners of Château Angélus, whose team subsequently supported the vineyard and cellar until 2022. In October 2022, the Pradel de Lavaux and de Boüard de Laforest families ended their partnership: the Pradel de Lavaux family retained 3 hectares of the historic terroir, the land base on which Château Bellevue maintains its status as a Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 Saint-Émilion classification.
