Histoire du domaine
The Perrier-Jouët house was founded in Épernay in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, one year after their marriage. Pierre-Nicolas Perrier was then a winegrower and botanist, whilst Rose-Adélaïde Jouët came from a family of Norman merchants. From its earliest decades, the house took a particular interest in Chardonnay and gradually acquired plots in the Côte des Blancs, notably in Cramant and Avize. Their son Charles Perrier took over the management of the house in 1848. In 1842, Perrier-Jouët created the Cuvée K, presented by the house as its first brut champagne. In 1902, Octave Gallice commissioned Émile Gallé to design a motif of Japanese anemones for one of the house’s bottles; this motif became its enduring hallmark. In 1964, four magnums decorated by Gallé were rediscovered by cellar master André Baveret, an event that led to the creation of the Belle Époque cuvée. Perrier-Jouët joined the Pernod Ricard group in 2005. Since October 2020, Séverine Frerson-Gomez has been the house’s cellar master.
