Champagne Krug Collection 1982
The 1982 Champagne Krug Collection is a vintage white Champagne from Maison Krug, produced in Champagne. This Collection cuvée corresponds to bottles of Krug Vintage kept longer in the cellars of the Maison before their presentation. The blend brings together 54% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 16% Pinot Meunier. This vintage is distinguished by an ample and full-bodied style, with persistent effervescence. Its aromatic expression combines mocha, hazelnut, honey, candied fruits, and mango, prolonged by sweet spices.

Krug
Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, Maison Krug is a Champagne house now part of the LVMH group. It produces its champagnes using a plot-by-plot approach, drawing on reserve wines and grapes from its own vineyards as well as from partner winegrowers. Its estate vineyards cover 21 hectares.

Histoire du domaine
Joseph Krug founded the House of Krug in Reims in 1843, with the aim of producing a champagne every year without relying solely on the characteristics of a single harvest. In 1848, he recorded his principles of creation and blending in a personal notebook, which subsequently became a key part of the house’s legacy. His method was based, in particular, on close attention to individual plots and the ageing of reserve wines from different vintages. Six generations of the Krug family have since carried on this tradition. In the early 1970s, Rémi and Henri Krug acquired a vineyard in Mesnil-sur-Oger; the first vintage of Krug Clos du Mesnil was produced from the 1979 harvest. In 1976, the two brothers conceived the idea of a blended rosé champagne, the first version of which was launched seven years later. LVMH acquired the House of Krug in 1999. In 2011, Krug introduced Krug iD, a code that identifies the history and composition of a bottle. In 2024, the house opened a new winemaking facility in Ambonnay, named Joseph. Julie Cavil is the current cellar master at Krug.
Collection
Krug Collection represents the second expression in time of a Krug Millésime. The Maison keeps a very limited number of bottles in its cellars, then releases them under this reference when their maturation has revealed new facets. It is not a new blend, but rather the second life of a Krug vintage aged for a longer period.
- Style of the cuvée
- A vintage Champagne that has reached profound maturity, combining evolved complexity, depth, and structure with preserved freshness, elegance, and finesse.
- Position within the range
- The very limited, long-aged second life of certain Krug Millésime; the pinnacle of the art of aging according to the Maison.
Histoire de la cuvée
Since the 1980s, Krug has reserved a very limited portion of certain Krug Millésime for extended maturation in its cellars. The cellar master and tasting committee monitor their evolution and decide when these bottles can be disgorged and presented as Krug Collection. Several years have thus been commercialized, notably 1961, 1969, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, and 1996.
