Wines of the Jura

The wines of Jura, a wine-growing region in eastern France, are renowned for their unique character and age-old tradition. Nestled between the Jura mountains and the plains of Burgundy, this exceptional terroir gives rise to wines that capture the very essence of this region. Jura is famous for its special winemaking method, called "vin jaune". This wine is produced from the Savagnin grape variety and undergoes a unique aging process in oak barrels for at least six years and three months, without topping up the barrels. In addition to vin jaune, the Jura region offers a range of other fascinating wines. Vin de paille, made from grapes dried on wooden mats, offers unrivalled sweetness and richness, with aromas of candied fruit, honey and spices. Red wines, made mainly from Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir grapes, are characterized by lightness, finesse and aromas of red fruits and delicate spices. Jura white wines, made from grapes such as Chardonnay and Savagnin, are fresh, lively and elegant, with aromas of white fruits, citrus and flowers. Some white wines are also aged under a veil of yeast, giving them subtle oxidative notes and added complexity. The authenticity and passion of Jura winemakers are reflected in every bottle of wine.
