Domaine Guiberteau
Domaine Guiberteau is a family-run estate in Saumur, managed by Romain Guiberteau in Saint-Just-sur-Dive, in the Maine-et-Loire department. Its vineyards, spread across Brézé, Bizay, Chacé, Montreuil-Bellay and Saint-Just-sur-Dive, are dedicated to Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. The estate has been cultivating its plots organically since the early 2000s.

Histoire du domaine
The estate’s origins date back to 1934, when Clément Manguin, Romain Guiberteau’s grandfather, established a wine-growing estate in Saint-Just-sur-Dive. In the 1950s, his son-in-law Robert Guiberteau helped to develop the estate and, in 1954, acquired several plots, including the Clos des Carmes on the hill at Brézé. Following Robert Guiberteau’s retirement in 1976, the family’s vineyards were entrusted to the local co-operative. Romain Guiberteau took over the estate in 1996 and gradually reintroduced on-site winemaking and bottling. In the early days, he was advised by Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard. The vineyard was restructured through the acquisition and selection of plots situated within the Saumur appellation. The conversion to organic farming began in 2003 and Ecocert certification was obtained in 2007. Romain Guiberteau remains at the helm of the estate today and personally oversees the winemaking process.
