Domain Claude Dugat Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru 2018
The 2018 Domaine Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru is a red Burgundy wine made entirely from 100% Pinot Noir. Classified as a Burgundy Premier Cru, it blends the lieux-dits of Craipillot and Perrières, with the latter leaving a particularly strong mark on the character of the cuvée. The Wine Advocate awards it 92-94/100, describing an elegant, open, and expressive 2018 with notes of cherry, raspberry, peony, and orange peel, supported by fine tannins and lively acidity.

Histoire du domaine
The Dugat family has been established in the Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards for several generations. Claude Dugat’s father, Maurice, acquired the former Cellier des Dîmes in 1956, a historic building in the village that became the centre of the family estate. Claude Dugat initially followed the family tradition of selling the harvest to wine merchants. At the turn of the 1990s, he began bottling and marketing the wines under his own name; the estate has generally operated in its current form since 1991. The vineyard covers approximately 6 hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin, including plots in Lavaux-Saint-Jacques, Charmes-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Griotte-Chambertin. Since the 2015 vintage, Claude Dugat’s children have taken over the running of the estate. Bertrand Dugat is responsible for cellar work and winemaking, whilst Laetitia Dugat is mainly involved in the vineyards; Jeanne Dugat also helps to manage the estate.
