Domaine Auvenay Batard Montrachet 2015 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2015 Domaine d’Auvenay Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a white Burgundy wine from the Bâtard-Montrachet parcel in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. 100% Chardonnay, this Burgundy Grand Cru combines richness and depth with a stony, saline expression. The Wine Advocate awards it 96/100, highlighting notes of ripe citrus zest, dried flowers, white peach, honeycomb, and a smoky touch. The publication recommends drinking it between 2025 and 2055.

Histoire du domaine
The history of Domaine d’Auvenay is linked to the Leroy family, who have been involved in the Burgundy wine trade since the founding of Maison Leroy in 1868. Lalou Bize-Leroy inherited the Domaine d’Auvenay with her sister upon the death of their father, Henri Leroy, in 1980. She bought out her sister’s share in 1990 and became the sole owner of the estate situated near Saint-Romain. The core of the vineyard consists mainly of family-owned plots in Meursault and Auxey-Duresses. Between 1989 and 1995, Lalou Bize-Leroy gradually expanded the vineyard by acquiring plots in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. These acquisitions included, in particular, plots in Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet, in Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, in Chevalier-Montrachet, in Bonnes-Mares and in Mazis-Chambertin. The winery was refurbished in 1994. Lalou Bize-Leroy personally oversees the running of the estate and the winemaking decisions, continuing the biodynamic practices applied across her estates.
Bâtard-Montrachet (Puligny Montrachet)
Bâtard-Montrachet is both a Grand Cru appellation and a physically demarcated climat, shared between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. It occupies the lower part of the slope, exposed mainly to the east and south-east, at around 240 to 250 metres of altitude. Its brown limestone soils are thicker and more clayey towards the foothill, with clay colluvium relatively poor in stones. The substrate consists mainly of platy limestones from the Middle Jurassic, attributed to the Callovian.

Histoire de la parcelle
The "Bâtard" climat was already distinguished from Montrachet in the 18th century, although its wines were long assimilated with those of Montrachet. A 1921 judgment consecrated the use of the name "Bâtard-Montrachet" and the local hierarchy of grand crus. The AOC was recognized by the decree of 31 July 1937; its plot area was initially demarcated in 1939, then approved by the INAO in 1988 for Chassagne-Montrachet and in 1989 for Puligny-Montrachet.
