Histoire du domaine
The estate’s origins date back to 1661, when Pierre de Rauzan acquired the noble house of Gassies in Margaux. Over the course of successive inheritances, the historic Rauzan estate was divided up, giving rise in particular to Rauzan-Ségla. The château was classified as a Second Growth in 1855 in the Médoc wine classification. Frédéric Cruse took over the management of the estate in 1903 and commissioned the construction of the present château. After a period under the ownership of the Cruse family, the estate passed into the hands of the British company John Holt, then to Brent Walker from 1989 onwards. CHANEL, controlled by the Wertheimer family, acquired Château Rauzan-Ségla in 1994. This takeover was accompanied by renovation work on the vineyard, the fermentation rooms and the cellars. Nicolas Audebert now manages the estate, whilst François Baudoux is in charge of technical operations and Didier Larue serves as cellar master.
