Pomerol Château Providence 1970 Bottle (75cl) FD
Château Providence 1970 is a Pomerol red wine from the Bordeaux region, produced by Château Providence. Its blend combines 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It comes from a 4-hectare single-block estate whose history dates back to Château Tropchaud, renamed Providence by the Dupuy family in 1928. This 1970 vintage thus illustrates a historic Pomerol property, marked by the dominance of Merlot.

Château Providence
Providence was a small Pomerol cru located in a single plot in the heart of the plateau, between the Pomerol church and Château Hosanna. Its 4-hectare vineyard, dominated by Merlot on clay and gravel soils, produced around 15,000 bottles per year. The last harvest marketed under the name Providence was the 2012 vintage.

Histoire du domaine
Known as Château Tropchaud in the 19th century, the estate was purchased in 1928 by the Dupuy family, who renamed it Château La Providence. Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix acquired it in 2005; this vintage was the first produced under their management, and the property was then given the simplified name Providence. The château and cellars were restored, while the label was redesigned; part of the vineyard was also replanted starting in 2006. Providence ceased to be produced as an independent cru after the 2012 vintage: its vines were integrated into Château La Fleur-Pétrus starting with the 2013 harvest. The winemaking building was subsequently dedicated to producing Château Hosanna, another property of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix.
