Histoire du domaine
The Château Mazeyres site contains traces of Gallo-Roman occupation, notably pottery dating from the 3rd century. According to local archives cited by the estate, vine-growing there dates back to the 14th century. The present manor house was built during the Directoire period. At the start of the 20th century, the Querré family acquired the property. They sold it in 1988 to the Société Générale Pension Fund, which in turn transferred it to Sogecap in 2010. Alain Moueix took over the management of the château in 1992 and oversaw the modernisation of the vineyard and facilities. The acquisition of four hectares in 2010 brought the estate’s total area to 25.5 hectares; the transition to biodynamic viticulture began in 2012 and certification was obtained in 2018. The Guillard family became the owners in 2020. Alain Moueix has been acting as a consultant since 2021, whilst Thomas Cézac, who joined in 2020, is the cellar master.
