Histoire du domaine
The origins of Château Lascombes date back to the 17th century: Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes is the earliest known owner, whilst in 1681 Jean de Lascombes acquired the Segonnes estate in Margaux and gave it his name. The Lascombes family retained ownership of the estate until the French Revolution. In the 18th century, Jean-François de Lascombes helped to establish the reputation of the estate’s wines. The estate was classified as a second growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification. In 1867, Gustave Louis Chaix d’Est-Ange acquired Lascombes and commissioned the construction of most of the present-day château. Alexis Lichine took over the estate in 1952 and undertook a restructuring of the vineyard and facilities, prior to its sale to the Bass-Charrington group in 1971. Colony Capital acquired the estate in 2001 and entrusted its management to Dominique Befve; MACSF bought it in 2011, continued to invest in the land and inaugurated a new fermentation cellar in 2021. The Lawrence family became the owners in 2022, with MACSF announced as a minority shareholder at the time of the transaction; Axel Heinz is now managing director and winemaker, whilst Delphine Barboux is head of technical operations and Jérôme Leroux is cellar master.
