Histoire du domaine
La Mondotte is a wine estate whose history dates back to the 19th century. Count Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg acquired it in 1971, at the same time as Château Canon La Gaffelière. His son, Stephan von Neipperg, subsequently took over the management of the family’s Bordeaux estates in 1985. Until the mid-1990s, La Mondotte’s wines were vinified at the Canon La Gaffelière facilities. When the Saint-Émilion classification was revised in 1996, the estate was required to have its own facilities in order to be treated as a separate property. From the 1996 vintage onwards, the wine has been marketed under the name La Mondotte, without the designation ‘Château’. The vineyard is situated on clay-limestone soil and now covers 4.5 hectares. La Mondotte and Canon La Gaffelière were awarded organic farming certification in 2014. In March 2021, Ludovic von Neipperg, Stephan’s son, joined the family business as technical director, a role that encompasses technical supervision and winemaking for the estates of Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg.
