Histoire du domaine
Château La Grave dates back to the 19th century, when it belonged to the Trigant de Boisset family. This historic Pomerol estate was long known as La Grave-Trigant de Boisset, before being renamed to its current name in 1992. Christian Moueix acquired it in 1971; this was his first wine estate purchase. Following this acquisition, the vineyard, the château and the cellar underwent renovation work. The estate is situated on the western slope of the Pomerol appellation, at the start of the gravelly strip that runs through part of this area. Current documentation from Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix indicates a planted area of 8 hectares, on soils of gravel and fine clay. The vineyard is currently reported to be 100 per cent planted with Merlot and certified to HVE Level 3. The sources consulted do not allow us to identify with sufficient certainty the person currently directly responsible for winemaking at this estate.
