Histoire du domaine
The château and some of its buildings date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The estate, then known as Mayne, was acquired in 1685 by the Laveau family. Under this family’s ownership, it was one of the great wine-growing estates of Saint-Émilion, before the landholdings were gradually dispersed through inheritance. In 1934, Jean Nony, a wine merchant based in the Chartrons district of Bordeaux, acquired the property from Noël Berbudeau. On Jean Nony’s death in 1975, his son Jean-Pierre took over the estate with his wife Marie-Françoise. They undertook renovation work and modernised the winemaking facilities. Following Jean-Pierre Nony’s death in 2001, Marie-Françoise Nony continued to manage the estate. Since 2020, their sons Jean-Antoine and Damien Nony have represented the third generation of the family at the helm of Château Grand Mayne. Jean-Antoine, who has been at the estate since 2011, is the manager; Pierre-Yves Petit serves as technical director.
