Histoire du domaine
Le Clos de l’Oratoire originated from plots separated from the Château Peyreau vineyard to form a distinct entity following the revision of the Saint-Émilion classification in 1969. It was then classified as a Grand Cru Classé. Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg acquired Le Clos de l’Oratoire and Château Peyreau a few months after purchasing Château Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte in 1971. Stephan von Neipperg subsequently took over the management of the family’s Bordeaux estates in 1985. Under his leadership, the estates developed an approach based on observing the terroirs and respecting the soils. The conversion of Clos de l’Oratoire to organic farming began in 2017. The estate obtained organic certification in 2020. Since March 2021, Ludovic von Neipperg, Stephan’s son, has been technical director of Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg and has been responsible for the technical management of the family estates.
