Bernard Faurie Hermitage Rouge 2018 Bottle (75cl)
Bernard Faurie Hermitage Rouge 2018 is a French red wine produced by Bernard Faurie in the Hermitage appellation, a cru of the northern Rhône Valley. It is made exclusively from Syrah. The appellation area is located on the left bank of the Rhône, around Tain-l’Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, and Larnage, on hillside plots featuring granitic, clayey, stony, and sandy soils. Within this appellation framework, Syrah yields intense, structured, and age-worthy red wines.

Bernard Faurie
Bernard Faurie is a historic winemaker of Hermitage, representing the fifth generation of his family to work on the hill. After farming 1.7 hectares of very old vines in Les Bessards, Le Méal, and Les Greffieux, he handed over the reins after the 2020 vintage, while keeping a small plot in Le Méal for a confidential production.

Histoire du domaine
Bernard Faurie belongs to the fifth generation of a family cultivating vines on the hill of Hermitage. His father notably farmed cherry and apricot orchards as well as a small vineyard area; Bernard was then working in a factory and joined him for the vinifications. In 1980, he left this job to devote himself fully to the estate, which he gradually developed up to 1.7 hectares of Hermitage distributed mainly between Les Bessards, Le Méal, and Les Greffieux. Some of these family vines are a century old. The 2020 vintage marks the end of the main production under his responsibility. Starting in 2021, he transferred or entrusted about 1.5 hectares to his son-in-law Emmanuel Darnaud, while keeping 0.2 hectares in Le Méal, planted by his father in the 1960s. Bernard Faurie continues to cultivate the vines there and vinify a very confidential quantity, essentially intended for his close circle.
