Histoire du domaine
In 1988, Laurent Vaillé took over the family estate in Aniane with his elder brother Bernard; at the time, it was mainly devoted to cereal crops. After training in viticulture and oenology in Montpellier, Laurent Vaillé rounded off his apprenticeship with work placements, notably with Éloi Dürrbach in Trévallon, Jean-Louis Chave and Jean-François Coche-Dury. The two brothers founded La Grange des Pères in 1992 and produced their first vintage that same year. The estate chose to market its wines under the ‘Vin de Pays de l’Hérault’ geographical indication – now known as IGP Pays d’Hérault – rather than under an appellation d’origine. Laurent Vaillé oversaw the winemaking process until his death on 30 April 2021. Bernard Vaillé then took over the running of the family estate and assumed direct responsibility for winemaking from the 2022 vintage onwards. Legal notices published in 2023 confirm that he is now the sole manager of EARL La Grange des Pères. A recent industry source indicates that the vineyard now covers 16 hectares and that Bernard Vaillé continues to run the estate, with the support of Mathieu, who has been with the business since 1998.
