Domain AF Gros Pommard Les Arvelets 2006
The 2006 Domaine A.F. Gros Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets is a red Burgundy wine made from 100% Pinot Noir, produced in the Pommard appellation in the Côte de Beaune. It comes from the "Les Arvelets" climat, officially classified as a premier cru. The Pommard appellation is reserved for red wines and is distinguished by structured expressions where velvety texture and fruit preserve finesse. This 2006 vintage thus combines the identity of a Pommard Premier Cru with the parcel-specific precision of Les Arvelets.

Histoire du domaine
Domaine A.F. Gros was founded in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros, a native of Vosne-Romanée and daughter of Jean Gros. Its creation was linked to the division of Jean Gros’s vineyard upon his retirement. Anne-Françoise Gros was then given a portion of the vineyards, whilst her brothers Michel and Bernard established or continued to run their own family estates. Her husband, François Parent, originally from Pommard, has been responsible for the estate’s winemaking since its inception. The estate is based in Pommard, with plots spread across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Mathias Parent joined his father in the winemaking process in 2010 and produced his first vintage on his own in 2013. He is now responsible for winemaking at Domaine A.F. Gros. Caroline Parent joined the family business in 2013 to take charge of sales and administration. Sources consulted indicate that the estate has also acquired a plot in Moulin-à-Vent, although this does not allow for a definitive determination of its current total vineyard area.
Les Arvelets (Pommard)
Les Arvelets is a climat officially classified as Premier Cru of the Pommard appellation, in the commune of Pommard. It is located at the exit of the combe, on its northern slope, but benefits from a full south exposure. Sources dedicated to the climat describe a particularly steep hillside and clay-limestone soils rich in iron oxide, with alluvial and silt deposits. The altitude values published for the whole of Pommard, namely 250 to 330 meters, do not make it possible to determine with certainty the exact altitude of the entire climat.

Histoire de la parcelle
Les Arvelets appears in the regulatory demarcation of the climats of Pommard classified as Premier Cru. The Pommard appellation was demarcated by judgments delivered in 1926 then on appeal in 1932, before its recognition as an appellation d'origine contrôlée in 1936. No sufficiently documented historical chronology has been found for the entire climat Les Arvelets independently of its particular properties, notably Clos des Arvelets.
