Domaine Hubert Lamy presents the 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière, a white Burgundy crafted from 100% Chardonnay from the La Chatenière parcel. Histoire du domaine
The Lamy family has been established in the Saint-Aubin vineyards since 1640. Hubert Lamy founded the estate under his own name in 1973. In the 1990s, the estate expanded through the purchase, lease and planting of new plots. Some of the vines were then replanted with Chardonnay in areas considered more favourable to this grape variety. Olivier Lamy joined the family estate in 1995, after studying oenology and gaining experience at other estates. He now runs the estate with his wife Karine, who is responsible for management, marketing and accounts. The vineyard now covers 18.5 hectares, mainly in Saint-Aubin, with plots also located in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. Olivier Lamy oversees the vineyard work and winemaking, with each plot being vinified and then matured separately. Both the white and red wines are bottled after 24 months’ ageing, depending on the estate’s website.
La Chatenière
La Chatenière is a climat officially classified as a Premier Cru of the Saint-Aubin appellation, in the commune of Saint-Aubin in Côte-d'Or. It is located in the winegrowing sector near the hamlet of Gamay, at the mouth of the valley, an area overwhelmingly planted with Chardonnay. The specifications collectively describe the Premier Cru parcels in this sector as situated on well-exposed slopes with stony, well-draining soils, without publishing a specific pedological or topographical characterization for the entirety of La Chatenière.

- Origin of the vineyard name
- The name refers to the chestnut tree, which was once present in the local landscape.
Histoire de la parcelle
The Saint-Aubin valley served as a communication route before the year 1000, and fine wine production is considered probable as early as the Middle Ages on the slopes near Gamay. The AOC Saint-Aubin was recognized in 1937; a list of climats authorized to use the Premier Cru designation was established in 1943 based on historically renowned growths, particularly those identified by the 1860 wine classification. La Chatenière is now explicitly included in the regulatory list of climats that can accompany the Premier Cru designation.
